Rental Cars
Do I need a car to see the Oregon Coast? Driving is the best way to see the Oregon Coast at your own pace. If you’re looking to rent a car, compare prices online and be sure to watch for hidden fees that are often tacked on at the end of your purchase.
🚗 Search for rental cars in Portland, Oregon and find the best deals on cars at RentalCars.com.
Where do I pick up my rental car? Rental cars are usually picked up and dropped off at Portland International Airport (PDX). Rental car pick-up and drop-off at PDX moved to a new location in November 2021. To pick up your car, follow signs to the Rental Car Center from baggage claim. To drop off your car, follow signs on the lower roadway for Rental Car Return.
Car rental companies that serve PDX include Alamo, Avis, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Hertz, National, Payless, Sixt, Thrifty and Zipcar. Some travel sites say you can find cheaper prices if you pick up your rental car downtown instead of at the airport, but we did not find a price difference and the airport is much easier.
What kind of car do I need for the Oregon Coast? Most people will not need to rent any type of special vehicle like a 4-wheel drive to travel on typical roads in Oregon. (If you plan on off-roading in remote areas it might come in handy.)
Expedia car rental also has a good selection of vehicle types to choose from so you can find a size or style that suits your needs. They now also list the total price under the daily rate with a breakdown of the fees.
