What to Wear in Oregon in Summer (June, July, August)
Summer is the most popular time to visit the Oregon Coast and is the high tourism season for the whole state. Summers are usually dry and pleasantly cool at the coast, but we can get unusually hot days and occasional summer rain showers.
The cool summer temperatures at the coast make it a popular place for Portlanders and other Oregon residents to beat the heat. Highs are generally 60 to 70F and the beaches are quite breezy most of the time.
🏊♀️ The ocean waters in Oregon are cold, normally 55 F or colder, so even in summer it is good idea to wear a wet suit if you plan on surfing or swimming. Flotation devices are recommended (due to strong rip currents, sneaker waves, driftwood and rocky environments, swimming in the ocean can be dangerous even for experienced swimmers. See our FAQ for more about swimming at the Oregon Coast.
