How to Pack Light for Winter in a Carry-On Bag
Is it possible to pack light for winter travel? With bulky coats and sweaters, it can be a challenge to fit everything into a carry-on or weekend bag, but yes, it is possible.
Save space in your bag by wearing your bulky items on the plane or in the car. For example, wear a winter coat, thick sweater and boots on the day you travel and peel off layers as needed.
These packing cubes will help organize your carry-on into neat, separated compartments. They also work to keep duffel bags, backpacks and large totes tidy.
Essential Clothing for Winter Travel
One rule of thumb when dressing for cold weather: Keep your head, core and feet warm and dry. Cold, wet feet can seriously put a damper on your day. Choose waterproof, instead of water-resistant outerwear for the most protection.
Underneath, choose light, insulating fabrics like Merino wool and synthetic, sporty blends that are breathable and less bulky. Cotton retains moisture, gets heavy when damp and takes longer to dry out.
